work is quite slow at the moment...so should i be happy? content? ntah laa....bored? yes to a certain extent...

i just turned 33 this year....and my goals are getting less and less challenging....is this normal? hmmm...is this how others feel? when you reach a certain age, then your priorities change - for the better or worse? hmmm....

I wish there's a straight forward yes/no answer to my questions above. unfortunately, it is not. That's life...

well, take it one day at a time? until when? only time will tell....

till then....stop asking too many questions and just get on with life.... :)

Shenzhen & HK trip (21-27 Jan 2010) - as a reminder to myself for future travel plan

what a way to start a new year huh? holidaying..hmmm the best I would say..

This time we went to Shenzhen & Hong Kong. I didn't really want to go initially coz i know there'll be a lot of barriers that we'll have to go thru- language, food etc. since the fare was cheap, i relented..

Especially in shenzhen, small number of people speaks very little english..

Arrived at the airport around 9pm. I thought airport ulats only exist in KLIA. not sure whether i was relieved or dissappointed that they were in shenzhen airport as well. relieved that people can't say Malaysia airport is the worst because of them or dissapointed that their presence in SZ airport means that KLIA is no longer special or different than other airports? hahha

the strange thing about the airport is that the domestic terminal is much much bigger than the international area. the taxi stop was located at the domestic terminal. since it was dark we didn't see the taxis in the beginning. then this guy approached us, 100 ready, 100 ready..at least that's how it sounded like.it was unbelievable..we kept asking him, really? so we were thinking..wow this is damn cheap..just imagine 100 rmb for 7 people..then once we got inside the car, he started ...100 usd...bloody hell...then the haggling started..not to our liking..we got off the car luggage and all...bangang kan mamat tu?

i really can't take it when people cheat me!! stoopid.. then we walked to the domestic terminal coz we saw taxis was lining up around there. there was a lady asking - taxi? and she was standing near the taxis..we asked meter? she said yes..meter..then push our trolley to one dark area..called her friend the taxi driver..7 people 2 taxis and i think they took us around...ended up we had to pay 300rmb per taxi...communication was non existence...no english.. i still cursed that f**c**** woman until today!

so, reminder to myself - next time just take the airport taxi. well we wanted to take the bloody taxi but was cheated by the stoopid woman...

arrived in the hotel..so-so lah. it was a warm night..plus sakit hati even warmer.

the next day we walked around the hotel area..stumbled upon a halal restaurant-very near to our hotel. of course communication was limited to pointing at the menu-luckily they have photos of the dishes..hmm..portion was big-can share between 2 people. and the price was cheap. 1 plate of fried rice was 10rmb=RM5.00.

went to windows of the world, entrance fee 120rmb/pax. had a really good exercise walking around..

next day- crossed the border to go to HK.

reminder - to fill up departure card, went thru immigration the whole nine yard...except there's no plane to board. it was a Saturday..very crowded.

bought the octopus card, cross country passes etc. took the train to the hotel.

HK transport system was amazing, however, the fare is not cheap. food wasnt cheap as well. 1 plate of beriani at pakistani restaurant can easily cost HKD55.i stayed at Charterhouse Causeway Bay. there's a masjid right behind the hotel. level 5 of the masjid building is the canteen. food there is slightly cheaper and they serve halal dimsum as well. very convenient. and the hotel room was clean albeit a bit small compared to our 3 star hotel room here.

went to the peak - no q to grt into the tram. some people have to stand. which i find a bit stupid since everyone had to pay the same price. and the locals like to push, getting on the tram they push, getting down they push..bodoh!we took a bus to get down from the peak. much better! HKD9 all the way to HK MTR station.

then to night market-dung tooi or ladies mkt i think. i got some t-shirts. other than that it's just like any pasar mlm in other countries. bags, shoes, clothes, counterfeits everywhere.

HK disneyland - entrance fee hkd350. not so big but still breathless to cover..ahhahhaha. especially since there was no halal restaurant inside. it was a sunday, so big crowd. long q for everything. it was just so-so for me. i guess theme parks are just not for me? :)

citygate outlet - total crap. prices there are more expensive then the normal price here in MY. i spent less than 30 minutes there.

kowloon - starving!! exit tsim tsa tsui. kowloon masjid is right outside the station. plenty of halal restaurant around. mostly pakistanis and arabs. dont be surprise if have to take really old, small elevator to get to the restaurant. the guy told us that the rent for ground floor is very expensive. that's why their restaurant is on higher floors. i was quite scared when they took us to the lift etc. but after i saw the restaurant and food, i was more concerned about filling my tummy. hahhaha.

symphony of lights - walked quite a distance to get there from the restaurant. not worth it if u ask me. ntah apa2 ntah..

temple street - even crappier than ladies mkt.not worth going at all.

stanley mkt - konon2 the high end mkt la.sells the same thing only at higher prices. i guess coz the patrons are mostly mat salehs. x pergi pon x per. not worth it.

i ended up getting my birthday present at the time square..hahahha....it was my mission going to HK. and i can say mission accomplished!

all in all, HK was not cheap but i like the weather - it was cold when we were there. :)

reminder-return the octopus card before u leave for the border again coz there is no counter to do that after lo wu station which is quite stupid i would say. they have the counter on the way from SZ to HK, but not from HK to SZ. susah betul.

now planning another trip in April..yuhu..i am more looking forward to this one!!

picture this - you'll be wishing for something good of course, unless u are a twisted human being to wish for something bad for yourself! you get what you want, but remember, every actions result in reactions, so you may not get the reactions that you wanted because for a simple reason that it is beyond your control!

so, assuming you get what i'm trying to say here, should we be wishing for anything, or shouldn't we? considering the unpredictable outcome? hmmm...how much should you wish for then - to minimise the risk of getting the reactions that is unfavourable to you?

when they came out with this saying why didn't they say how much care should you exercise when making a wish?

hmmm..complicated huh?

i would say that was by far the most difficult challenge i had in my 30++ years of life..and am glad that it is now over..
when i say the most difficult..i really mean it! i couldn't stop thinking about it for almost a week, pondering over my decision - was it the right one? or was i jumping the gun, OTT? but in the end I came to decide that i did what i had to do, my concience is clear and just persevere..
and i believe GOD is with me in this..Alhamdulillah! Allah the Almighty!
am so glad it's over, at least it's not constantly in my mind now...i have moved on....

today is a very trying day for me!

it starts right at the beginning..i forgot my notebook..only realised it when i reached the office in bandar utama...supposed to have a briefing session with the staff..the speaker turned up late..i couldnt contact her cause her number is in the diary which was in the backpack which i forgot..arrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

i had to register myself at the security counter before entering the building, left my phone on the counter there.....went up to 18th floor, couldnt go thru the door, tried to call the colleague inside...whammm....couldnt find my phone!!!!!!

rushed down to concourse area...retrieve the phoen from the security guard....went back up....waited......

then back to the other office.....sent out a reminder email...somebody get offended by my email...yada yada yada....

so what? suck it up!

left office...feeling like crap..TGIF..

i'm not gonna let these series of events ruin my weekend!!!! i'm so gonna enjoy it!!

till monday....i'm just gonna be in the state of oblivion, in the mean time............

went to watch wolverine - X-Men Origins and loved it! love him! well i could be biased there.. :)

I just watched Australia 2 days back - and I loved it! the drover was yummy! :) and the accent - you get goosebumps all over your skin! hehehhe...there, I am exaggerating again!

Just came back from a one and dying to go for another... :) not sure whether it's a disease or just a fetish - but i do love going on holiday...a lot!!! hahhahha...

wished I had tonnes of money, so i can take off anytime I want, not having to think of where to get the money from...sigh...wishing is not gonna make it happen..

but I think the competition between the 2 airlines are very good for me soul..the price is really2 low! now I don't have to wait for MATTA fair to get good bargains..yippidee!

e-filing....arrghhhhh...i am dragging my feet to get this done..closing date is on the 30th of this month! i need a little pick me up lah....erghhhh.....HELP!

things have been pretty slow at work..another dread..i feel like i am stuck in a rut and just going with the flow...frankly this is like a normal feeling year in year out. i wonder how some people stay motivated or "engaged" (the in-jargon these days in HR language) in their line of work? well..use whatever fancy word you might it still means the same rite? motivated, engaged what's the different? the word ENGAGEMENT according to some expensive, fancy consultants definition, means how you as an employee think, feel and act for the company that you work for. so, if you are proud employee of the company you work for and willing to die for the company that means you are an "engaged employee".

how i know this? hehehe..i used to do this job for one of the company that i worked for in not so distant past! not as the con-sultant but as one of the project member...it was quite fun! i think that is my niche...working on projects, clear deadlines, timelines and the sense of achievement once the project is done-successfully of course...urrghh...to feel the adrenaline rush again! i miss that feelings.

this day to day routine is just killing me! i think i'm gonna be brain dead soon- due to lack of activities...hahhahah....just the other day i missed the turning that i was supposed to take, had to make a u-turn to go back home. and that was my normal route!! am i losing it? i think i was thinking of the "nothingness" in my work life at the moment lah.....ohh please i need some excitement in my work!

i know..i know..your life is what you make of it....but it's easier said than done! some people may say i am an ungrateful b****. i have a great job, not so bad pay and still complaining! most people would kill to be in my shoes!! yeah i know who...hahahahah..but i guess being a mere mortal..you are never happy with what you have....well you may be content with it for a while, then you grow tired of it and you crave for more....agree??? so, when is enough is enough?

and tomorrow is only Wednesday..wish Friday would come sooner...

everytime i look at these pictures they take my breath away...i was looking at my holiday picture collections because there is a contest i plan to take part in..hopefully boleh menang holiday lagi... :)..when it comes to contest /lucky draw sad to say i was never lucky...however during the company annual dinner recently my name came up for one of the lucky draw prizes! maybe lady luck will be on my side again..who knows? anyway, there's always no harm trying!! at least i'll need to use my brain a little to come out with the wittiest caption! hehehehe...BUT I REALLY WANT TO WIN!! Holiday gateaway woo....imagine going on a free holiday....HEAVEN!

our trip to cambodia

These were taken during our recent trip to Phnom Penh. it was a spur of the moment thing - the trip. i was feeling low, MAS came out with a promotion. So, i just booked the ticket to PP and the rest was history.

The silks were beautiful and can cost an arm and a leg...and i hate the fact that they use USD there. makes everything more expensive. Even a ride in tuk-tuk costs $3 to one place. cutthroat!

I researched the place before going there -i always do whenever i accidently booked a ticket or i feel like going somewhere :). And still i was surprised to have to pay $25 per person at the airport upon returning! errghhhh....and they have posters all over their airport that says "help the development of our people or country" or something like that.....CRAP! hampeh betui.....
